Stairlift Guide

Every Acorn Stairlift installation is tailored specifically to its particular setting and the individual needs of the person who will use it. That means every stairlift is unique, but they can still be divided into three main stairlift types. Read on to learn more.

THREE MAIN TYPES OF STAIRLIFT

The three main types of stairlift are Straight, Curved and Outdoor Stairlifts. The type you need is determined by the stairs it will be installed on, and whether those stairs are inside or outside your home. All stairlifts have two main components – the ‘stairlift rail’ and the ‘stairlift carriage’. The rail is fixed to the stairs and the carriage is mounted on the rail and travels along it.

WHY A SURVEY IS THE BEST WAY

FREE HOME SURVEYS

A home survey is vital to gather information about your staircase and your mobility needs. It’s also you chance to speak with a stairlift expert and ask any questions you might have. The surveyor will explain what you need and why, then provide a quote for the work. It will include professional installation of your tailor-made Acorn Stairlift and will have no hidden extras or unexpected fees. Your quote remains valid for up to a year, giving you time to make up your mind.

WHAT’S A ‘VIRTUAL SURVEY’?

A Virtual Survey is one in which you take key measurements of your own staircase, guided over the phone by a stairlift expert. This option was developed by Acorn Stairlifts in response to the coronavirus pandemic, to reduce the number of necessary in-person visits to your home. It is best suited to less complex stairs and you can, of course, still opt for an in-person visit if you’d prefer it. Any Acorn employee visiting your home will observe strict anti-coronavirus protocols.
